• Overall concept and development of the Schlusenpark The LWL Museum Schiffhebenwerk Henrichenburg and the city of Waltrop take part with the cooperation project "Schleusenpark Waltrop with themed wheel route Kanal Vita (L)" at the international garden exhibition Metropolis Ruhr (IGA) 2027. In preparationThe LWL Museum has planned a free information portal (Entree) as a first orientation in the Waltrop Schleusenpark as well as a new entrance building with attractive gastronomy and information center as well as an elevator to the barrier-free connection of upper and underwater. The city of Waltrop andThe Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe (LWL) has set off together to further develop the Waltrop Schleusenpark into a tourist highlight. The International Garden Exhibition Metropole Ruhr (IGA) 2027 at the exhibition level "Our Gardens" offers the occasion. TheSchleusenpark Waltrop is an outstanding ensemble of industrial culture with high open space quality. A open space design in the Schleusenpark, promoted together with the city of Waltrop, ensures smooth transitions between the areas, squares and paths around which the LWL and the cityTake care of waltrop. Goals of the measures planned by the LWL a) Development of the Waltrop lock park by a uniform arrival area for the four buildings. b) Creation of an info point in the arrival area. c) Creation of a conclusive route for the Waltrop Schleusenpark. d) Constructionof a new visitor center for the LWL museum with a wage-free information portal on the subject of "waterways in the Ruhr area". e) Creation of a barrier-free route within the LWL Museum by elevating the height difference between underwater and upper water.
