Description:
As part of the Excellence Cluster Prisma+ (Precision Physics, Fundamental Interactions and Structure of Matter), the Institute for Nuclear Physics (KPH) of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz is currently building a multiturn linear accelerator with energy recovery for core physical experiments, mentioned Mesa (Mainz Energy Recovering Superconducting Accelerator). This permanent line accelerator (CW accelerator) is designed for the provision of continuous electron rays with energies up to 155 MEV and a jet current of up to 10 mA. The main accelerator is than circulation linac Installed and operated and works either in energy recovery mode or as a conventional circulating accelerator with an energy generation of 50 MEV per revolution. To meet the restrictions imposed by the existing building and thus the requirements of the accelerator field the suprale-leading HF technology was chosen for the main linear accelerator. The final energy from MESA is reached in three runs of the cryomodules, so that there are five 180 arches that consist of dipol and quadrupol magnets and several harassment, around the jet paths in front of and behind to combine and divide the cryomodules, as well as beam transmission lines that guide the beam to the experiments.
