- The energy supply company STAWAG - Stadt- und Städteregionswerke Aachen AG, based in Aachen, is planning the new "Eisenbahnweg" thermal power plant. The subject of this procedure is the production, delivery and future maintenance of a Gas turbine package for generating electricity and heat with approx. 14 MW el gross output. Manufacture, delivery and maintenance of a gas turbine STAWAG operates an extensive district heating network in Aachen. In the course of network expansion and transformation The above-mentioned combined heat and power plant (HKW) was planned to generate renewable heat. The installation location is a former industrial site in the east of Aachen. The HKW is a gas turbine thermal power plant with additional firing. The gas turbine package is the central one Element and generates electricity and heat. The net electricity is fed into the public power grid. The turbine exhaust goes into a waste heat boiler with additional firing, which produces hot water for the district heating network. The HKW is especially on colder days used and also has a reserve function. A new building is being built for the HKW. The fuel for the gas turbine is initially natural gas H. In the long term, the plan is to switch to hydrogen. In order to add hydrogen admixtures in the medium term enable the gas turbine package described here to be able to process up to 20% H2 content.
