The mogs in the lowlands of Schleswig-Holstein face major challenges. Due to the effects of climate change with increasing sea level, a changed precipitation distribution and other terrain -heeling losses of drainer moss soils, new and future -proofConcepts for wet management. An investigation into the greenhouse gas reduction potential of selected climate protection measures in Schleswig-Holstein, carried out on behalf of the MLLEV, identified the water level increase on bogs as an effective climate protection measure with considerableGreenhouse gas saving potential and thus great potential for climate protection. For traditional agricultural production at moor locations, however, a water level increase is associated with a loss of agricultural added value. The concerns vary withinSchleswig-Holstein strong. In the largest arranged Lower Moor area of Schleswig-Holstein, the Eider-Tree-Sorge Niederung, it is primarily held on drained grassland. About two thirds of the permanent grassland in the Eider-Tree-care Niederung will be in the future of the climate change-relatedSea level increase and the associated challenges of drainage affect the simultaneous progressive loss of terrain. Agricultural grassland usage in the lowlands, in addition to the supply of feed for milk production, also plays a central role fornature conservation, for example for meadow bird protection. Currently there are only a few practical examples of what a wet grassland management can look like and how possible alternatives can be implemented in practice.
