- The waste disposal company Westmuensterland mbH (EGW) is planning the fundamental modernization and expansion of the existing mechanical-biological waste treatment plant (MBA) at the Gescher site into a state-of-the-art full-flow biowaste fermentation plant. This should be done in independent procurement procedures Among other things, fermentation technology on the one hand and gas processing on the other hand are commissioned. The subject of this process is fermentation technology (Lot 1). In addition, the conveyor technology (lot 2) and digestate storage containers (lot 3) will be awarded. The aim of the entire project is the annual Around 105,000 tons of organic waste from the Borken district and neighboring regions are processed not only into high-quality compost, but above all into biogas and thus into renewable energy. By switching to the full-flow fermentation process, the energetic potential is increased of organic waste is optimally utilized. The biogas produced will be processed into biomethane in a new gas processing plant and then fed into the public natural gas network. Optionally, carbon dioxide (CO2) separated during processing is stored in a separate system to purify, liquefy and market as a by-product. With this approach, EGW makes an active contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and achieving local and national climate goals.
