- The Saarland communities of Schwalbach, Ensdorf and Bous intend to develop a future -oriented and sustainable municipal heat planning. The aim of the project is to create a strategic basis for sustainable heat supply that both ecological and
economicAspects taken into account. The focus is on the development of a concrete, locally adapted catalog of measures to redesign the heat supply, taking into account the potential and regional peculiarities.
The municipality of Schwalbach with its districts of Schwalbach, HuelzweilerAnd Elm is located in the Saarlouis district and has around 17,000 inhabitants. Ensdorf, formerly an important location of the Saarland coal mining, is also located in the Saarlouis district and has around 6,500
inhabitants. The municipality of Bous, with around 7,000 inhabitants, is characterized by itsIndustrial
tradition and its convenient location on the Saar. All three municipalities are faced with the
challenge of looking at their heat supply more deeply and at the same time taking into account the regional framework conditions.
Legal basis for the project is in 2024 inStrength of law for
