- According to the latest information, 130 species from the butterfly group (Papilionidae, Hesperiidae, Pieridae, Nymphalidae, Lycaenidae, Riodinidae) and 18 species from the ram family (Zygaenidae) occur in Rhineland-Palatinate (Red List of Large Butterflies in Rhineland-Palatinate 2014). As part of the nationwide insect monitoring, these are recorded at 60 SPF through transect counts in the module "Butterflies and rams at landscape level" in Rhineland-Palatinate. carried out several times a year and all adult individuals observed within an imaginary "recording square" around the person mapping are recorded with pinpoint accuracy. seven selected sample areas visited annually (subsample). (BfN) is responsible for coordinating and cross-border tasks such as nationwide data consolidation and evaluation.
