Description:
In order to make the air traffic of the future more environmentally friendly and climate-friendly, the DLR facility technologies for small aircraft-DLR facility KF-for short-was founded in 2020, which operates the innovation center for small aircraft technologies (INK). The ink dedicates the topics of electrical flying and the (inter-) urban mobility with a view to small aircraft against the background of the model of the Rheinische area as a so-called mobility area of the future.
The concept of electrical flying plays a key role for a climate -friendly Aviation. The electrification of aircraft has the potential to minimize emissions locally and to make mobility more quieter and more efficient. Small aircraft can fulfill double benefits in this context. On the one hand, they are suitable as ideal test platforms, in and With which new technologies - also for large aircraft - can be tried out and demonstrated in a simple, fast and economical way. On the other hand, small planes themselves have to be climate -compatible - today's and novel small aircraft also have the potential, a contribution to be made to the mobility turn, e.g. in the (inter-) urban space.
The project is intended to lay the basis for its later establishment and research operation of the DLR in the so-called Aero-Park-a new manner area of the city of Wuerselen geared towards aerospace. The...
