- Harzwasserwerke GmbH is the largest water supplier in Lower Saxony and supplies around 2 million people and industrial companies in Lower Saxony and Bremen. One of the main arteries of the Harzwasserwerke GmbH distribution system is the water transport pipeline built in the 1934-35s Soese Nord, which leads from the Harz Mountains to Bremen. Due to its age, the bitumen-coated steel socket pipeline with subsequent cement mortar lining has reached its remaining useful life. Based on risk analyses, there is a priority need for renewal for the approx. 40 km area Section between the Pattensen hydroelectric power station and the Himmelreich large valve shaft north of Neustadt am Ruebenberge.
Since the water transport pipeline runs in some areas through the middle of residential areas and affects many other infrastructural facilities, a renovation in the area is necessary Existing roads are largely not possible while adhering to the protective strip widths that correspond to current regulations
This applies to both the construction itself and the planning and approvals.
For the three sections UVP preliminary examinations were submitted in accordance with Section 7 UVPG in conjunction with Annex 2 UVPG.
