New concept north of Heidelberg - selection process procedure for traffic facilities with engineering structures and structural engineering planning
The planning area extends over a corridor, which comprises the northern access road and mainly leads over areas that are not previously intended for developmental purposes. The street is to connect to Berliner Strasse in the east between student dormitories and technology park and end in the west in Tiergartenstrasse. A Another component in the overall context is the so -called loop, which connects to the NES at two points. The planning must take into account the integration and maintenance of existing traffic functions such as trams and foot/bike traffic.
The project is part of the urban planning and traffic Masterplans for the Neuenheimer Feld, which is supposed to secure the MIV closure before the new tram is built. The planning and construction of the NES are involved in the total processes of the master plan, with a planned start of construction from mid -2028. Sustainable designs, especially in relation On deflected areas and tree plantings are expected. The traffic routes in the master plan have a high demand for design and networking, and a three-lane cross-section is assumed, with areas for foot and bicycle traffic and bus lines with stops.
