  • Description:
  • Inland navigation will face major structural challenges in the next few years. The ports Mannheim and Ludwigshafen together form the second largest inland location in Germany and act as central logistical nodes in the Rhein-Neckar region. Recorded in 2021Together they have a water handling of 14.1 million tons - of which 7.3 million tons were made by Mannheim and 6.8 million tons at Ludwigshafen. Despite a decline to a total of 11.3 million tons in 2024, both ports remain of national strategic importance:As part of a joint potential study by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHKKS) Rhein-Neckar and Palatinate, essential questions stand for the future of the ports with a focus on the Hafen Mannheim and Ludwigshafen as well as the waterways on them.Focus on a medium -term period of the next 15 years and consider the development for the years 2030, 2035 and 2040. In addition, the long -term trends should be grossly estimated beyond 2040. Port study, potential study, inland ports, Ludwigshafen, Mannheim,IHK
