With over 42,000 students, the University of Hamburg (UHH) is the largest university in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the largest research and training institution in northern Germany and one of the largest universities in Germany. Located in the heart of the Free Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the University offers a diverse range of courses and excellent research.
It offers a wide range of central IT services, such as e-mail, WWW, file and print services, e-learning or administrative applications. Many of the RRZ's IT services are also used cooperatively by other universities.
Since 2008, the RRZ has operated an inhomogeneous local server infrastructure based on various manufacturers, on which VMware vSphere (ESXi) is then operated as a hypervisor.
