- The DLR builds and operates the Krummendeich WiValdi wind energy research park. At this research park at the mouth of the Elbe, two Enercon wind turbines and a total of four flanking measuring masts have already been put into operation for research purposes taken. The research park is now being expanded to include a third modular wind turbine, the so-called OPUS 3 of type DLR500.50. The design of this wind turbine is based on the small series system SG500.54 and was developed in the “ExpTurb - Design one” project Experimental turbine". In the current project "OPUS 3 - Construction of an experimental turbine", the developed design is being implemented and the experimental turbine OPUS 3 is being built, erected and put into operation. The DLR500.50 inverter should not not only enable standard operation, but also be flexibly expandable for future research operations in order to investigate topics such as network-forming operation, black start capability or the provision of network services.
