- The joint municipality of Ilmenau is planning to re-tender the technical and commercial management of the wastewater network for the entire joint municipality area. This covers the area of the municipalities of Barnstedt, Deutsch-Evern, Embsen and Melbeck. About 20 ago Years ago, as part of a Europe-wide procurement process, a public-private partnership (PPP) model was put out to tender for the task of wastewater disposal in the municipality of Ilmenau. Wastewater disposal in the local sense only includes: Elimination of mixed and dirty water. The removal of rainwater remains the responsibility of the individual member municipality. In this structure, the operational management of the sewage network of the Ilmenau municipality is carried out by the wastewater company Ilmenau mbH (AGI). The Ilmenau community holds 51% of the company shares in AGI, while the private partner owns 49% of the company shares. Fixed assets, such as cables, were also taken into account as part of this award and pumping stations, transferred to AGI. There is a corresponding service contract between AGI and the Samtgemeinde, through which AGI undertakes to carry out the wastewater disposal obligations incumbent on the Samtgemeinde. The to Services required for operational management are provided by a service provider for AGI. This service contract is now to be re-awarded.
