Description:
The precautionary assistant that is anchored in the Federal Floor Protection Act (BBodSchG) aims to prevent the emergence of harmful soil changes and thus protect the natural resources and livelihoods. Accordingly, it is important to contribute the natural soil functions as well as the function as an archive of natural and cultural history in addition to other protective goods in planning and approval procedures. For this purpose, the individual federal states developed various evaluation procedures due to the lack of (federal) uniform requirements in order to rate the soil functions described in § 2 BBodSchG.
By integrating the evaluation procedures into the state, regional and land use planning, the identification and sufficient consideration of the soils, which are particularly worthy of protection, enables the soil protection worthy of protection.
In Saxony-Anhalt, the infiltration capacity is currently used for the large-scale assessment of the soil function regulation in the water balance (Borg & Preetz 1996).
