Description:
The Cusanus Gymnasium Erkelenz, one of the two high schools in the city of Erkelenz, currently has around 1,600 students, making it one of the largest high schools in North Rhine-Westphalia. The high school consists of different construction phases that were built from 1965/66.
Today's extension is C Part of a first structural expansion and was carried out with approval from July 25, 1975 in the form of an extension with 4 classrooms each on the ground and 1st floors. The connection is via a staircase that is connected to the existing staircase in component A (atrium).
The existing one Annex C cannot be renovated due to substantial defects and must be replaced by a new building. This opens up the possibility of making adjustments to the room program. At the same time, a new technical area is to be planned in the basement, which will replace the existing energy center below Component A was expanded and the school center's heat supply was converted proportionately to renewable energies. Ultimately, the building will accommodate rooms for cleaning service providers.
