- The project began with the implementation of a structural design competition for the replacement of the sports hall at the Soederblom-Gymnasium Espelkamp in 2019. The first prize winner was the bwarchitektur office from Muenster, which was awarded the contract for both the general planning and the received construction management. By 2021, planning up to approximately LPH 6 could be created under the leadership of bwarchitektur. In the same year, the plans were stopped due to unexpected additional costs. A modified plan in 2022 for the new building could be created by the GPL up to approx. LPH 6 The demolition was planned by a separate consortium until around LPH 3. In September 2022, based on the updated planning, the SJK 2022 funding application for the new building and the demolition could be submitted.
