- The wastewater association consists of the city of Lichtenau, the municipality of Rheinmuenster (district of Greffern) and the city of Rheinau (districts of Memprechtshofen and Helmlingen). The Schwarzwasser wastewater association operates the association sewer system, including the pumping stations in the districts of Member communities and the Lichtenau sewage treatment plant. The wastewater from these municipalities as well as the concentrate water from the Lichtenau and Schwarzach waterworks are cleaned in the sewage treatment plant. In coordination with the specialist authorities, it was determined that this would serve as the basis for extending the discharge permit A qualified pollution load calculation must be created for the catchment area of the Lichtenau sewage treatment plant. The aim was to coordinate the rainwater treatment in the catchment area with the performance of the sewage treatment plant. In the course of the processing, a mixed water treatment concept was developed, which, among other things, provides for the production of a retention soil filter (RBF) in order to be able to meet the required target of 10 reliefs per year at the affected storm overflow basins (RUeB Roemerweg and RUeB C). In this retention floor filter, both the relief water quantities of the RUeB Roemerweg and RUeB C are treated. The RBF must be manufactured with a filter area of approx. 462 m2. The relief water volumes are fed to the RBF via a lift. Its relief takes place in the free surface. The total costs of the measure are estimated at around €4 million.
