The occasion of the competition is the upcoming restructuring and core renovation of the main building of the University of Bonn. The University of Bonn is a campus university and is spread over several camps in the entire city. In the main building, the former electoral castle right on the edge of theDowntown are the majority of the philosophical, Protestant and Catholic faculties. The "main building" describes the central location, consisting of the main wing of the Electoral Palace, the Kaiserplatz wing and the east wing with a stick gate and Koblenzertor.The baroque main building of the University of Bonn no longer meets the requirements for a contemporary university building that corresponds to the requirements of modern teaching. The Bonn castle ensemble is in need of renovation and is to be fundamentally renovated from 2029. It will be complete for thiscleared. In the course of this competition process, concepts for basic restructuring and core renovation are to be developed that ideally map the requirements of the users as possible, create contemporary work and learning rooms.
