Description:
In the approval procedure for crop protection products (PSM), the Federal Environment Agency (UBA) in accordance with Plant Protection Act is responsible for evaluating the risk for the natural balance and for the determination of risk reduction measures.
When using plant protection products, a risk can occur, for example, by drift. Active ingredient droplets are deposited outside the target area when applying for spray. As a result, pesticides can be entered in water and other non -target areas. So far, two measures for reducing the drift have been established in the approval process: the use of reducing reducing spray technology and the enlargement of the distance to non -target areas, since the amount of plant protection products quickly decreases at a distance.
The use of such risk reduction measures can be approved by more risky pesticides, since the forecast risk of non -target areas is reduced by the measures to an acceptable level.
