The Markus Hospital Frankfurt is planning to expand the radiation therapy of the Medical Care Center (MVZ) to include a third linear accelerator (LINAC3) with adjoining rooms on their property on Ginnheimer Landstrasse 94, 60487 Frankfurt am Main.
The single-story underground extension will be built in the northern part of the hospital grounds on a green area between
Wilhelm-Eppstein-Strasse and the existing buildings House E and House A
. The existing radiation therapy is in the basement of the buildinguses E and is part of the hospital's use unit
part of the radiotherapy for the treatment of cancer. The extension to expand radiotherapy is connected at the same level to the basement of House E and the radiotherapy there. In the connecting area of
House E the vExisting inventory converted inside. The extension consists of a bunker for the required 3rd linear accelerator and associated side rooms. Due to radiation protection, the bunker is very solid, with walls and ceilings more than 1.0 m thick and a massive radiation protection gate. To treat cancer, electron and photon radiation is generated electrically in the linear accelerator; no radiation is emitted when it is switched off.
