- The North Sea plays a key role in the European energy transition. As a natural center for large-scale offshore wind energy, it offers the potential to become the "green powerhouse of Europe" and contribute to the EU's energy sovereignty. The expansion of offshore generation capacities is essential for the decarbonization of industry, for security of supply and for achieving climate goals. The aim of this project is therefore to provide the BMWE with comprehensive scientific and technical support in the implementation and design of European offshore cooperation. In the The focus is on twelve work packages that are structured along the priority areas of action of the 2024 Ministerial Declaration. They cover strategic planning, market design, financing, security, skilled workers and modeling and are intended to enable Germany to assume its leadership role in the To perceive North Sea cooperation as technically strong and European-based.
