- With the FAIR project (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research), one of the world's most modern particle accelerator and experimentation is currently being built at the GSI in Darmstadt. The plant complex developed and financed under international participation serves for basic scientific research and for experimental purposes in numerous applied science disciplines. The task for the implementation of the system was transferred to Fair GmbH, founded in 2010. The GSI Helmholtzzentrum for Heavy Iron Research carries out numerous administrative-technical tasks in the context of closed agreements with Fair GmbH and, among other things, takes on certain procurement processes. For the core accelerator of the fair system, the Schwerion -Synchrotron SIS100, eight vacuum chambers are required, which are used as jet pipes in selected superconductive quadrupol magnets. These are installed in the magnetic jets and operated within a cryogenic environment at temperatures of the liquid helium.
