Description:
Source/phase exploration based on pilot tests. As a result of the groundwater monitoring studies carried out so far, consistently high levels of contamination in the groundwater have been detected in the area of the factory premises and adjacent areas. The persistently high levels of pollutants also showed possible phase-leading damage areas or damage entry areas (source terms). . As part of groundwater monitoring in the OeGP Rositz, the Landesentwicklungsgesellschaft Thueringen mbH (LEG Thueringen) plans to carry out field or pilot tests for source detection on 2 pilot areas. . After weighing up possible technical exploration methods for detecting benzene-containing phase enrichments in the unsaturated and saturated soil zone, the use of innovative examination methods was decided because of the simultaneous recording of lithology, hydraulics and contamination possible and, if necessary, appropriately assessed. The following applies: - The methods used should fundamentally be suitable for source or phase detection. - Verification of the site-specific suitability of source/phase detection methods. - Obtaining additional knowledge of soil physics Parameters in the area of the factory premises for further verification of the geological-hydrogeological site model. - If the tested procedures are successfully applied, clarification on phase/groundwater pollution with regard to source detection can be obtained at the selected (pilot) locations and if there is evidence of possible isolation of the contamination (expansion of the conceptual site model).
