Description:
The Billwerder correctional facility is located in the east of Hamburg in the Bergedorf district. The closed prison for men and women is housed there. The adjacent area is characterized by agricultural land. The development plan at Billwerder 26 applies to the propertywith the identification area for the common needs "prison".
In the south-east of the grounds of the JVA Billwerder, a new sub-facility for juvenile detention is to be built on the outskirts. Here, the strict separation from adult prisons - especially women's prisons - is of the utmost importancet.
For the juvenile institution, there are to be detention places with independent living and care units. Furthermore, an observation and security station as well as a detention station are to be set up. In addition to the detention buildings, rooms for professional development with workshops and classrooms, etcie an administration building and a gym are built.
The current site of the JVA Billwerder surrounded by a wall is not sufficient for the new building and must be expanded.
In addition, two separate buildings outside the wall are to be used for open prisons with additional cellsand erected for juvenile detention.
