Description:
The fish ponds in the Lewitz, Ludwigslust-Parchim district, are in the regional property and are managed by the Landesellschaft Mecklenburg-Vorpommern on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture and the Environment. The pond area is a property of state nature conservation administration. Currently, the fish ponds are leased to a carpet farming up to 31.12.2023. The tenant does not strive for extension. The new tender of the Leichtache in June 2019 revealed that a simple continuation of carp production will not be conventional in this way. Without creation of additional sources of income such as e.g. Overnight business, boat rental, gastronomy, etc. Could not be operated economically at this location according to the participating interested parties. The renovation costs of the entire pond area under business aspects of pure carp production has been estimated at a sum of around 10 million euros.
