Description:
The aim of this order is to examine sample material from a heap and to evaluate their economy of the mining for gallium and Germanium. For this purpose, new technology approaches are to be developed and tested for this previously unused gallium and Germanium resource with a focus on heap material.
The material to be processed is a heap of the Tsumeb hut in Namibia, which consist of copper-zinc-lion-uphoch furnace slag with high held on gallium (135-156ppm) and germanium (128-441ppm) and sit down due to the total slag quantity of over 2 million tons are a significant potential gallium and Germanium storage. Initial attempts at extraction for the gallium and Germanium have also been undertaken (e.g. V. Ettler et. AL (2022)) without an economic, large-scale use of the TSumeB slag content.
