- Electricity is generated from wind energy on the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein and in the North Sea. In the future, the NordOstLink (NOL) will transport this green energy to Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and, if necessary, via the SuedOstLink to southern Germany. The NordOstLink is important for energyinfrastructure of tomorrow and enables more green electricity to be fed into our grid. This is essential for a secure, stable and sustainable power supply in the future. The preference area of the entire project area extends over a total length of approx. 190 km (as the crow flies).
In eiIn the first phase of construction work, empty pipes will be laid along the entire route. The cables are pulled in by the cable supplier in a separate construction phase. The empty pipes are largely laid using an open construction/trench construction method. The section-related conFinal determinations as to whether an open or closed construction method is to be carried out are made as part of the route planning, based on available inventory data, official concerns of the responsible state offices and with regard to environmental and nature conservation aspects, as well as special requirementsen of the local conditions.
