• Description:
• The project makes an important contribution to the implementation of the German Presidency of the Alpine Convention (2027-2028) and in particular supports the implementation of the Alpine Biodiversity Action Plan, especially the measures in the pillar “Restoration”. The aim of the project is to promote strategically coordinated planning of restoration measures at an Alpine-wide level and thereby strengthen a collective impact on the recovery of nature in the Alps. At the Implementation of the project should link regional planning processes with the goals of the Global Biodiversity Framework, in particular Goal 2 on restoration, as well as the EU regulation on restoring nature. The project combines existing ones policy framework for the restoration of ecosystems in the Alpine region, including national restoration plans of the EU member states (Germany, France, Italy, Slovenia, Austria) and relevant strategies such as national ones Biodiversity strategies (particularly relevant for Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Monaco). The resulting synthesis is intended to provide a general overview of the current status of recovery planning, set out the announced goals and identify key gaps and opportunities for synergies. Building on this, the project aims to carry out more in-depth analyzes for two selected alpine ecosystems and support exchange between key actors in the region. Through Expert dialogues improve the flow of information and potentially also contribute to the specification of planning instruments. The project also supports the identification of practical approaches and financing options for strengthening the implementation.
