Description:
In addition to the renewal of the infrastructure, the general renovation generally includes the modernization of train stations and, in many cases, the digitalization of the respective section. During the closures, long-distance and freight trains will travel on diversion routes. In regional transportDuring the general renovation, buses will take passengers to their destination. Once the work is completed, travelers and freight transport companies will benefit from stable operations on more efficient routes.
1. General renovation of the high-performance corridor POS-Nord:
The 133 kilometer long sectiontt between Forbach (in France) and Ludwigshafen and is on the Paris Eastern France Southern Germany highway (also referred to as "POS-Nord"). It is one of the most important railway routes through Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland with trans-European importance. It serves both the Nah- and long-distance as well as freight transport. For this section of the route, the DB is planning a comprehensive renovation, expansion, conversion and logistics concept specifically tailored to this route profile. In addition, the new Saarbruecken Saarbasar stop and a number of train stations and stops are being builtearth modernized. Due to the location, partly in the Palatinate Forest, the work is extremely complex, particularly with regard to construction processes and site logistics.
