"Restoration of the listed pilot schooner No.5 ELBE"
The wooden pilot schooner No.5 ELBE was commissioned for construction in 1882 by the Deputation for Trade and Shipping at the H.C.Stuelcken shipyard, which was then based in Hamburg, and delivered a year later. purpose of the ship war, as an above-average seaworthy, easily manoeuvrable and fast two-masted schooner, to transfer pilots in the North Sea to seagoing ships entering the Elbe River in all weather conditions. It was also used as a stationary pilot station in the nautically most demanding and roughest sea areaof the world, the German Bight, permanently used. Since 2002, the ship has been owned by the private Hamburg Maritim Foundation, which preserves the maritime heritage of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. Since 2016, the ship has been the last RepRepresenting an important epoch of sea pilotage, it was entered in the Hamburg list of movable cultural monuments. It is an approved traditional ship and is used for guest trips and for holding cultural events on the ship.
Consequently, on 08.06.2019 in ElBecause of the ship's accident that occurred in the Stadersand waterway with the subsequent sinking of the object, the historic two-masted schooner must be comprehensively rebuilt.
After the salvage, the ship was already gutted, extensively cleaned and the hull then structurally repaired...
