The dogs' reaction to pheromones (diluted) on the standing tree are tested, as well as whether infected trunk pieces can be differentiated from non-affected trunk pieces. The test will take place in the Immendingen forest district carried out and accompanied by the project staff. Module B: Investigation into infestation detection The question of how well search dogs can detect letterpress infestations is examined here. The determined specificity, sensitivity and stage of infestation provide a holistic picture the accuracy and earlyness of detection compared to traditional control. At least five trained and certified search dog teams are used for the investigations. These check suitable examination areas every month from March 1st to November 30th, 2026 (each 3 5 ha) in the Immendingen forestry district.
