• Description:
• Project description: The aim of the project is to convert the current SAP ERP system to SAP S/4HANA for the areas of finance, controlling, budget, third-party funds and procurement in conjunction with the redesign of the existing work processes. The Max Planck Society (MPG) consists of 84 legally dependent institutes primarily in Germany, two legally independent institutes and a central general administration based in Munich. All institutes are currently working General administration in a common SAP system and are organized in their own company codes. The two legally independent institutes are their own clients. A legally dependent institute still has its own SAP system and should be within the framework be integrated into the transition to SAP S/4HANA. The Max Planck Society is responsible for the central maintenance of the system and support. The technical project management for the transformation project is located in the general administration. The Operations are divided into 1st, 2nd, and 3rd level support and are provided in a mixed form between internal and external employees. SAP hosting is outsourced to an external hosting service provider. SAP basic services are provided with exceptions provided by the external SAP hosting service provider. The existing SAP system is the central software for administration and has various interfaces, including to SAP HCM, SAP SRM and SAP BW4/HANA, as well as to special procedures, such as for the processing of construction projects. Incoming invoice processing is carried out using xSuite. The MPG reports in accordance with the German Commercial Code (HGB), but due to its role as a recipient of federal and state funding it also has a reporting obligation under public budget law.
