  • The Red List of Endangered Biotope Types in Germany (RL BT) has been published by the BfN at approximately 10-year intervals since 1994. The RL status, which describes the risk of loss of each BT, represents the central statement of the RL. The RL BT records all of Germany's BTs, including those that are safe. It therefore includes a comprehensive, detailed assessment of the condition of all ecosystems in Germany. In addition to the presentation of the RL status, there is a range of additional information for each BT (e.g. causes of danger or diagnostic types). In 2017, almost two thirds of all BT had a (varyingly high) risk of loss.
    The project described here is intended to comprehensively take over the tasks of creating the 4th updated version of the RL BT until publication, in close coordination with the BfN. The basics for all biotope types, terrestrial and marine, their additional information and the evaluation methodology must be reviewed and updated.
