• Parts of the network components currently in use will reach the end of their product life cycle (End of Life) as defined by the manufacturer at the end of 2026. After this point, there will be no security-relevant updates or support from the manufacturer available. Continuing operation of these components is not justifiable for reasons of IT security and operational safety. Against this background, the intention to award the contract is to specifically replace parts of the existing network infrastructure in order to To ensure operational safety in the future. This award is expressly not about the introduction of a new system landscape, but rather the continuation and upgrading of an already established, technically uniform infrastructure. The aim is to maintain existing structures and investments, to adapt technical performance to current requirements and at the same time to ensure long-term compliance with applicable IT security requirements. Justification of the Product specifications: The existing IT infrastructure is completely geared towards Hewlett-Packard Enterprise (HPE) products. This includes the existing core and access network components of the Aruba brand as well as the WLAN system, the storage and SAN infrastructure and associated management and security platforms. The network infrastructure is therefore an integral part of a consistent and coordinated overall architecture. This existing overall architecture in the form of a A homogeneous infrastructure with a uniform operating system and centrally controlled update and change processes meets the central requirements of BSI-IT-Grundschutz. The use of network components from other manufacturers would result in different patch, update and configuration mechanisms and increase the risk of misconfigurations and security-relevant inconsistencies to an unacceptable extent.
