Description:
The expansion of the B224 to the A52, including the tunnel in the central settlement area of Gladbeck, is the most important urban development project for the city in the coming decades. This is mainly due to the prominent location of the federal highway in the city area, as it runs through the main settlement areaern and separates individual districts from each other.
Along the route there are very different, previously unused or underused areas that are to be put to new uses in the course of the realization of the tunnel in the sense of sustainable urban development (potential areas). nen free areas that were formerly used for agriculture or mining, there are areas available for development that are currently still "used" by an allotment garden, a courtyard area and a large heap of rock. In the project title "37 Northeast - Gladbeck is growing together" is the overall goalof the development: Districts that are currently separate are to grow together, existing barriers are to be dismantled. Due to the separation by the B224, these districts (Ellinghorst with the Wittringer Forest, Butendorf and Stadtmitte) are quite different. The Wittringer Forest is the big Narecreation area of the city with regional importance. Adjacent to the west is Butendorf, a district that is almost exclusively residential, while both residential and commercial uses close off the city center up to the B224 (sometimes in mixed locations). wish...
