• Urban development redesign of Aue and intersection reconstruction B7 Planning services for traffic systems and open spaces The city of Wuppertal intends to redesign the floodplain and renovate the Alsenstrasse/B7/Sophienstrasse intersection in the west Elberfeld city center. The overarching planning goal is to develop a street cross-section that can make a maximum contribution to achieving climate protection goals through area desealing and climate-resilient upgrading (green-blue infrastructure). at the same time provides the essential transport functions for “walking and driving”. According to the Lower Monument Protection Authority, there are only low expectations in the project area that fragments of the underground Wilhelminian style buildings can be found however, cause legacy problems. Special challenges arise - complex construction logistics requirements in an inner-city environment (limited construction site facilities, parallel measures, coordination with residents, etc requirements of the emergency services etc.) and - Compliance with the funding requirements (FRL 2023) of the urban development funding program “Growth and Sustainable Renewal - Downtown Wuppertal Elberfeld”. The measure must explicitly address climate protection and adaptation climate change and must also be completed by December 31, 2028 to ensure eligibility.
