Description:
The LAGER project ("Long-term storage in energy-flexible, sector-integrated properties and districts") is a research and demonstration project at the Ulm University of Technology. The aim is to promote cross-sector flexibility of the energy system and integration of electricity, heat and mobility sectors in energy-flexible properties. A central component is the development and testing of a long-term hydrogen storage system with a capacity of 50 MWh (around 1,500 kg), which enables seasonal energy storage. Further includes that the project involves setting up electrolysis hydrogen production with an output of ~40 kWel, (around 0.75 kg H2 production capacity per hour), heat extraction from the existing hydrogen-fired gas turbine and the integration of these systems into the existing infrastructure of the THU energy parks.
